Karl Nurse raised another $1,880 in his re-election campaign for St. Petersburg City Council District 6, during the financial reporting period of Aug. 23 to Sept. 13. This makes his net take just shy of $21,000.
This time, the chair of the City Council has seen continuing union support, with $500 checks from the Millwrights & Machinery and the West Central Florida Federation of Labor Unions.
Nurse must be feeling comfortable with the commanding lead he has in recent polling, which puts him with 48.6 percent support, a 30-point lead over Republican Sharon Russ. Nurse spent a whopping $26.48 this reporting period, making his entire campaign cost $10,767 so far.
In contrast, Russ filed a campaign report noting a single donation โ $100 from Goliath Davis (listed as โprofessorโ). Davis is one of the city’s most influential African-American officials, fired as the senior administrator of community enrichment by Mayor Bill Foster in March 2011. Davis recently announced his support for Rick Kriseman for mayor.
To date, Russ has collected $670 in contributions, and spent all but $131.
