Why the St. Pete Police needs a new HQs

The following is from Gene Webb, a retired employee of the St. Petersburg Police Department.

I just spent the last five years working for the St. Petersburg Police Department. My office was on the third floor in the older of two buildings that make up the complex. I managed the computer division as a civilian employee.

The current facility is literally falling apart. I had leaks in the main computer room, and in the Communication Center. In fact, one of the main leaks was in the Chief’s office, located not too far from mine.

It is difficult and expensive to work on the building. The air-conditioning is old, the emergency power system, while updated for the technology systems, is antiquated.
