Why we took Baby Ella to the Equality Florida gala

in Uncategorized by

This past Saturday evening, Michelle, Ella and I attended Equality Florida’s gala in Saint Petersburg. It was never a question as to whether we would bring Baby Ella to the event. I’ll let my wife explain why (as originally posted on her Facebook page):

“We are taking Ella to the Equality Florida fundraiser this evening. Not because we couldn’t find a babysitter but because we are trying to raise a daughter that is engaged in the world, tolerant of people who may be different from her & is ready to stand up for what she believes in.

Equality regardless of sexual orientation is probably the greatest human rights issue of my generation.

Sponsoring the dinner isn’t enough.

We have to show Ella that her mom & dad are willing to stand up for this issue. I pray this fight is a distant memory by the time Ella is able to comprehend what marriage equality is, but in the event it’s not, she’ll be ready to join the fight.”
