Wild rumor of the day: Steve MacNamara leaving Gov. Scott’s office in May?

The wild rumor of the day is that Governor Rick Scott’s chief-of-staff, Steve MacNamara, plans on leaving the Governor’s office as early as May.

At least that’s what’s floating around the Capitol Rotunda today.

And why not? Whatever makeover Scott has attempted to undertake has reached its natural conclusion. Whether it has worked is in the eyes of the beholder. So this is the perfect time for MacNamara to exit stage right and, probably, return to the Ivory Tower at Florida State.

Don’t believe me?

Well, who told you two weeks ago that Jack Latvala had cut a deal with Andy Gardiner before you heard it anywhere else? Who told you a month ago that Kurt Browning was stepping down before you heard it anywhere else?

Of course, the Governor’s office just might make MacNamara hang around until June, just to spite me.
