With a special election called for the springtime, Speaker Will Weatherford and other legislative leaders are hosting a fundraiser for Eric Eisnaugle, the only Republican candidate running in the abbreviated race for House District 44.

Weatherford, as well as Speaker Designate Steve Crisafulli and Speakers-to-be Richard Corcoran and Hose Oliva are headlining a reception for Eisnaugle in Tallahassee on Wednesday, February 5. The event will take place in the Capital Room of the Governors Club.

Eisnaugle had already planned to run in November to replace Rep. Steve Precourt, who faced term limits, and had raised at least $173,755 through the end of December.

Gov. Rick Scott announced Friday that a special primary election would be held March 11. That would put the special general election on April 8.
