After Hillsborough County commissioners devoted $400,000 of tourist taxes to a party with Tampa themes, but to be held in St. Petersburg, to kick off the Republican National Convention, St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster said, “As long as somebody else is footing the bill and paying the cost of the facility’s use, they can have any kind of theme event they want.”
