Just received this from the always effervescent Gypsy Gallardo:
There will be an important citizen-led advocacy initiative happening in the City of St. Petersburg: The Agenda 2010 City Policy Convention at the PTEC Campus (901 34th St. S.) from 10 am to 1:30 pm on this Saturday, June 5th.
The primary objective of the Convention is to forge proposals for new approaches to City of St. Petersburg policy and programming in policy areas that disproportionately and stubbornly impact African Americans. The attached document gives you a succinct overview of the focus and targeted outcomes of five (5) special break-out sessions.
Importantly, the Convention does not seek to influence the City’s budgeted priorities for the coming fiscal year. Rather, the Convention seeks to help develop an infrastructure for longer-term citizen/advocate-involvement with developing the City’s priorities.
For those of you who are policy makers for the City of St. Petersburg, we look forward to sharing the Convention’s outcomes and to working hand-in-hand with you toward sustainable policies.
