Attorney General Pam Bondi has declared war on price-gouging as Hurricane Irma continues its trek toward the state. Bondi, who met with reporters Wednesday evening at her Tallahassee price-gouging call center, said staffers have logged roughly 1,500 complaints since she activated the state’s hotline at (866) 9-NO-SCAM on Monday. She also asked Floridians to report price-gouging by going to her website.
Florida residents picked store shelves clean and long lines formed at gas pumps Wednesday as Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 monster with potentially catastrophic winds of 185 mph, steamed toward the Sunshine State and a possible direct hit on the Miami metropolitan area of nearly 6 million people.
On Wednesday, the Bucs and Miami Dolphins announced the season opener scheduled for Sunday in Miami, will instead be played on November 19, the scheduled bye week for both teams. That means Tampa Bay will open the season against the Chicago Bears at Raymond James Stadium next Sunday.
