After a long, hard-fought campaign, Republican Aaron Bean, a small business owner and former Florida State Representative, tonight triumphed in the election for the newly-drawn Florida Senate District 4 seat, which includes Duval and Nassau Counties.

Bean won nearly 74 percent of the vote in the Nassau County portion of SD 4 and had captured nearly 60 percent in Duval County, with almost all precincts reporting, according to the counties’ elections websites.

“I cannot thank the voters enough for all the support they have shown for our campaign for Senate District 4,” said Bean.  “Since day one, I have campaigned on creating jobs, providing more choices for parents in their children’s education and bringing a marketplace of affordable health care to all Floridians; and, now, I have the privilege and opportunity to deliver on these principles for our First Coast region.  I look forward to taking my love and passion for public service to Tallahassee, where I will fight for you.”

Senate Republican leaders made a top priority of electing Bean, who won a tough August primary against Rep. Mike Weinstein

“This has been a long road for Aaron, and I am proud of his hard work and determination that has led him to victory today,” said Senate President-designate Don Gaetz.  “I send my congratulations to Senator Bean and his wife Abby. I share in his vision of growing our workforce and advancing our schools and look forward to working with him in the Florida Senate.”
