With just a few weeks left in the 2016 legislative session, Americans for Prosperity-Florida is continuing opposition to proposed incentive packages.
The organization released a web advertisement Monday that called on Floridians to call for their lawmakers to oppose economic incentive packages. The 30-second spot urges Florida voters to remind lawmakers “they work for you.”
“Floridians don’t want their tax money to be given away to special interests,” said Chris Hudson, the state director of Americans for Prosperity-Florida.
AFP has also launched a direct mail campaign thanking House members who voted against incentive proposals. Mailers were sent to people living in districts represented by senators who supported incentive proposals to inform residents of their vote.
“Lawmakers can’t seriously look their communities in the eye and tell them that hundreds of millions of their dollars were better used on handouts to corporate special interests rather than improving the state’s real infrastructure needs,” said Hudson in a statement. “That money belongs to taxpayers, and should be returned to them because they are much better investors than government ever could be.”
