State Rep. Alan Williams announced Thursday he will seek to become House Democratic leader in 2014, setting up a three-way race against Reps. Mia Jones of Jacksonville and Darryl Rouson of St. Petersburg.
Williams has served in the House since 2008, representing parts of Leon and Gadsden counties.
Rouson announced in October that he would seek the post. Jones formally announced her bid this week, though she had indicated earlier she would run.
The winner likely will serve as House minority leader, as Republicans have a huge majority in the chamber and probably will retain control during the 2014 elections.
