Appalachian State comes from behind to beat Ohio in Camellia

in Sports/Top Headlines by

In its first bowl game ever, Appalachian State put together a game-winning drive in the final 1:47 of the game to win the Camellia Bowl, beating Ohio 31-29.

Ohio had been in position to win the game, but with a first-and-10 from the Appalachian 13, the Bobcats chose to run A.J. Oueleete three straight times to set up a field goal by Josiah Yazdanin.

It wasn’t enough. Scott Satterfield’s Mountaineers, which trailed 24-7 going into the fourth period, charged back to set up a 23-yard field goal by Zack Matics, who had missed two previous attempts in the game.

Appalachian outscored Ohio 24-5 in the final period.

For Appalachian State, Marcus Cox ran for 162 yards and Jalin Moore for 96.

In all, Appalachian State outgained Ohio 427-272.
