St. Pete City Council lacks excitement for FDOT express lane plan

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

St. Pete City Council members didn’t seem too impressed with plans to ease congestion along some of the area’s most congested thoroughfares. The Florida Department of Transportation has seven “starter” projects that could break ground within the next 3-5 years that would create pay-to-use express lanes on parts of Northbound I-275 between Gandy Boulevard and Fourth Street and 118 Avenue and then across the Howard Frankland Bridge into Tampa. in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

There’s an unspoken – alright, sometimes spoken – feud between St. Pete and Tampa over which side is better. Sorry Bob Buckhorn, but you also got bested by Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson and Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant, who wasn’t even trying to win. And it came after some serious, serious trash talking. None of these cars have training wheels,…

St. Pete’s Nuisance Abatement Board will not hear public comment during quasi-judicial hearings despite public outcry to do so. Following a series of legislative decisions exempting quasi-judicial hearings from a public comment requirement, the board changed its rules to eliminate opportunity for individuals to address the board in such hearings. Prior to a hearing last week involving the New Plaza Motel and Cactus Charlie’s bar on 34 Street, numerous residents – most from the Historic Kenwood neighborhood that backs up…
