Boley Centers wants $49 million for mental health care, St. Pete City Council agrees

At the bidding of St. Pete City Council, the city is backing local nonprofits supporting mental health programs in the city in their ask for increased funding from the state. City Council approves $235,000 for new St. Pete Police toys

St. Pete City Council approved $235,000 for new equipment, technology and training and recruitment during a meeting Thursday. The bulk of the money will pay for dash cams in police cars. The St. Petersburg Police Department will purchase 15 in-vehicle camera systems for use in its Street Crimes Unit. Those vehicles are not currently equipped for video. State Sen. Jeff Brandes has proposed a series of amendments to an omnibus transportation bill that could have a drastic effect on red light cameras throughout the state.
