Will Newton’s back taxes were not from a personal business

St. Pete City Council candidate Will Newton is answering questions about more than $32,000 in back taxes he owed several years ago. Newton was assessed two liens stemming from 2004-2006 and 2007-2009. Both liens were paid off in 2012. In a Tampa Bay Times article highlighting the issue, Newton wouldn’t answer where the back taxes came from. Tampa posts $400 million in increased construction permits over last year

Tampa issued nearly $400 million more in permits for construction services this year than in fiscal year 2014. Charlie Gerdes withdraws plea to Pinellas County Commission about stadium dollars

St. Pete City Council Chair Charlie Gerdes asked that his request to amend a resolution sent to the Pinellas County Commission be withdrawn. It’s fire prevention week in St. Pete. City Council awarded the St. Pete Fire Department a proclamation during its meeting Thursday with a focus on ensuring residents have working smoke detectors in every room and in common areas.
