Republican Bill Young II posted a solid first fundraising report, having raised approximately $51K in donations during his first full month on the campaign trail in House District 68 race.
Young, son of the former U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, entered the race for much of eastern Pinellas County and parts of Pinellas Park and Saint Petersburg on February 28. He raised $50,990 and spent $3,829, for $47,161 in his war chest.
Incumbent Rep. Dwight Dudley raised only $16,050 last month for his re-election bid, according to Division of Elections filings released today.
Dudley’s fundraising was abbreviated due to the start of the legislative session on March 4. By Florida law, incumbents cannot fundraise during session.
The Democrat from St. Petersburg now stands at $104,185 overall as he faces Republicans Young and Joshua Black for the seat that covers He also spent $4,500 in March, giving him a cash-on-hand of $95,443.
