Braves, not Rays, most popular baseball team in Florida, according to survey

The MLB playoffs are in full swing and Public Policy Polling finds that the most popular team in Florida is … a team not from Florida.

22% of voters in the state say the Braves are their favorite team to 13% for the Rays, 11% for the Marlins, 10% for the Yankees, 9% for the Red Sox, 5% for the Cubs, 3% for the Mets, and 2% for the Phillies.

The Rays may not have a huge fan following but Joe Maddon can at least take solace in the fact that he’s beloved by the few fans the Rays do have, sporting a 74/1 approval rating. Rays backers aren’t terribly optimistic about the team’s prospects for the postseason though – only 42% think they’ll make it to the World Series and just 16% think they’ll win it.
