Longtime headache Austin Seferian-Jenkins will cause no more problems for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
The Bucs released Seferian-Jenkins, a former second-round draft pick, on Friday, hours after he was arrested for a DUI.
Earlier this year, Seferian-Jenkins had been kicked out of a practice by the Bucs. Earlier in his career, he was penalized for posing on a football after a touchdown.
“We are very disappointed in today’s news,” said General Manager Jason Licht. “After careful consideration, we felt this was the right decision at this time.”
Earlier in the day, coach Dirk Koetter was besieged with questions about Seferian-Jenkins.
“Obviously there was a situation that we became aware of this morning and we just don’t know all the details yet.,” Koetter said. “By the time we found out, we were into meetings this morning and we’ve been on the practice field, so right now we don’t have all the information. We’re aware of it.”
Now, the controversy is at an end. The Bucs waived Seferian-Jenkins and brought up rookie Alan Cross from the practice squad. Count another high draft choice by the Bucs as a bust.
