Bucs trade stadium improvements to move preseason games

in Sports by

Say you don’t like the NFL preseason?

What do you think of it if the Tampa Bay Bucs are taking it away?

As part of $100 million in improvements to Raymond James Stadium, the Bucs will play both preseason games of 2016 and 2017 elsewhere and possibly one preseason game per year afterward. The agreement is part of the concessions given up by the TSA for improvements to Raymond James Stadium. The deal has been agreed to in principal but needs a final approval, says the Tampa Tribune.

The team had requested the ability to move a second regular season game, a request that was denied. The preseason games, which draws\ fewer fans, was different.

The improvements, which are supposed to be ready by the January, 2017, college national championship game, would increase the video board space at the stadium and bring in a new sound system. The Bucs would pay a minimum of $58 million, while Hillsboro County would pay $29 million.
