Rex Ryan says he isn’t obsessed with the New England Patriots. Not a bit.
But Ryan, coach of the Buffalo Bills, constantly talks about the Patriots, about Bill Belichick, about Tom Brady, about his failures concerning the Patriots.
But as he goes into a Monday night game, Ryan isn’t obsessed.
He says.
โI know all you guys say that I’m obsessed with them and all that,โ Ryan said. โYou guys are obsessed with them, not me. I want to beat them, but you guys are the ones who talk about them every single day.โ
Ryan’s teams have lost seven of eight to New England, which has ruled the AFC East for years. New England is 26-3 against Buffalo the last 15 seasons. In division games, he has won 22 of his last 23 at home.
Ryan’s Buffalo Bills team will try to help alter that Monday night behind quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who is 4-2 on the year and has won four of his last five.
The Patriots (9-0) beat Buffalo, 40-32, in their first meeting, and Brady threw for 440 yards. But 11 of his receptions were to Julian Edelman, who is out for several weeks with a broken foot.
