St. Pete’s Jeff Knight is at it again adding a steak house to the downtown area. You might expect a soft opening Thursday as the new eatery creeks its doors open to the public, soon to be followed by a VIP grand opening that has not yet been formally announced.
The Kitchen will be on the Jannus block, on the bottom floor of the building on First Avenue and Second Street North. The location is as unique as the concept, and it needs to be. You might remember where Tangelo’s was located? This section opens up with two huge garage doors, which will showcase the kitchen of The Kitchen.
No “kitchen confidential” to be found here. The kitchen will be wide open for public view. It doesn’t hurt that the savory sights and aromas will be accessible to all—a little encouragement to help entice hungry passersby to come on in through the door.
Another feature the restaurant will boast is an expansive outdoor 130 seat dining area that will roll out along most of the First Avenue side of Jannus.

Expect an eclectic menu complete with aged Angus steaks and Kobe beef, sushi and savory sweet chicken and waffles.
The Kitchen looks forward to serving the needs of hungry patrons visiting local watering holes and nearby venues such as McDinton’s, the Pelican Pub, Jannus Live and VIP Suites. Catering, delivery and take out will ensure easy access to anyone who suddenly finds themselves addicted to the menu.
Had enough excitement with this news? Wait, there’s more. Brunch will be served up with a gospel flair in the Jannus courtyard—complete with gospel choirs from local churches, performing most Sundays.
Jeff also reports that he will be transforming the VIP Suits at Crystal Head Lounge, offering private dining with steakhouse menu items. Be prepared for exciting developments in this corner of the ‘burg.
