Democratic gubernatorial nominees Charlie Crist and Annette Taddeo will be in Miami Springs Saturday morning to join supporters of Florida Planned Parenthood PAC’s “Women are Watching” campaign.
The former governor and his running mate will hold a special joint campaign announcement 9:30 a.m.at the Central Labor Council Offices, 4349 NW 36th Street, Suite 107 in Miami Springs.
In June, Florida Planned Parenthood launched the “Women are Watching” voter outreach campaign to support state candidates who promote “access to women’s health and move closer to securing a pro-women state legislature,” according to PAC chair Lillian A. Tamayo.
Planned Parenthood expects Crist to announce its official endorsement, having waited until after the Democratic primary between the former Republican governor and liberal former State Sen. Nan Rich.
Recently, the organization clashed with Republican Gov. Rick Scott over legislation passed this year that they say limits women’s health and access to abortion. In the 2014 legislative session, lawmakers approved and Scott signed three new abortion-related bills, including HB 1047, which redefined Florida’s third trimester abortion ban.
