From Oct. 18-24, combined totals for committees supporting Republican Gov. Rick Scott and Democratic challenger Charlie Crist were nearly $4.7 million, according to reports from the Division of Elections.
The weeklong fundraising boosted the total take for both committees to $74.7 million. “Let’s Get to Work,” the committee behind Scott brought its total to $45,217,027, while the “Charlie Crist for Florida” committee raised $29,474,556.
During the reporting period, the Crist committee actually out-performed “Work,” adding about $2.76 million.
Major contributors included Orlando’s Morgan & Morgan law firm, the Florida Education Association and the Washington-D.C. advocacy group America Votes, with $250,000 each, reports show. Crist’s committee also spent $24,673,158 through Saturday.
Meanwhile, “Work” raised just over $1.9 million for the week, including $1.8 million from the Republican Governors Association. The committee spent $42,663,592 in total.
