Christoph Waltz will not be a villain in Spider-Man 3D reboot

Earlier this week a rumor hit the net that Inglourious Basterds Oscar winner Christoph Waltz might end up playing the villain in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man 3D reboot. This rumor has been debunked, and it looks like we will not see Waltz playing a villain in Spider-Man. Superherohype talked to inside sources involved with the production and they say,

…there is definitively no truth to this rumor… a blogger’s wishful thinking perhaps? Our sources say that when the role is cast, there will be a great actor involved.

So there it is. Waltz is a great actor and I’m sure he would have made a great villain in the film, but I’m sure he’s got better things to do. It should be interesting to see who they end up casting as the villain, and who the villain will actually be.

Andrew Garfield is set to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and that the film will be released in 3D and 2D theaters on July 3, 2012.
