It’s a question that has perplexed me for years: what is the difference between an “adult use” venue and a “bikini bar”? Try as I may to determine the difference — and I have invested considerable time and money into determining the difference between an “”adult use” venue and a “bikini bar” — I am hard pressed to explain the differences.
Fortunately, St. Petersburg City Councilman Jeff Danner is determined to get to the bottom of this vexing issue. Today, he is proposing a new business item that the Public Services and Infrastructure Committee of the august City Council investigate the actual difference between an “adult use” venue and a “bikini bar.”
I don’t think Danner’s request comes as a direct result of Tampa-St. Pete being awarded the 2012 Republican National Convention; rather, it is probably due to establishment of two “bikini bars” in downtown St. Petersburg. Of course, Saint Petersblog was the only media source reporting on these developments, so, Councilman Danner, please know I am available to present expert testimony before the City Council.
