In what is probably Florida’s most closely watched statewide race, a political committee associated with former state Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff collected $60,000 in two weeks, as she prepares for a rematch with Sen. Maria Sachs.
“Creating Possibilities,” raised the campaign cash from June 27 to July 11, according to the Florida Division of Elections website. Bogdanoff, a Fort Lauderdale Republican, entered the race against Democrat Sachs for Senate District 34 on June 11.
SD 34 includes portions of Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The committee’s largest contribution was $25,000 from the “Florida Leadership Committee,” a group linked to Sen. Jack Latvala, Bogdanoff’s friend and key supporter.
Bogdanoff’s committee also received $10,000 from Coral Gables-based MBF Healthcare Management, led by renowned executive Mike Fernandez. Bogdanoff lost to Sachs in 2012 in a brutal campaign after redistricting put the two sitting Senators fighting for the same district.
