It was a great year, fundraising-wise, for House Republican Majority Leader Dana Young, who released a series of strong 2015 numbers Tuesday, further fueling speculation of a possible Senate run.
The South Tampa Republican drew in $712,980 in 2015 to both her campaign and associated committee, Friends of Dana Young PC. The solid year was capped off with nearly $172,000 taken in December, leaving Young with an impressive $615,797 combined cash-on-hand.
The yearly breakdown is as follows: Young’s campaign accounted for $238,520 of the total, including $111,875 in Dec., and a war chest of just under $200,000. Friends of Dana Young took in $474,730, $60,000 in Dec., with $416,095 on-hand.
As previously reported in FloridaPolitics.com, the newly redrawn Senate district maps could leave Young with a viable district if she chooses to mount a Senate campaign. As a rising star in the Florida Republican state caucus, many observers say Young would certainly make a formidable candidate.
