The U.S. Chamber of Commerce awarded U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross with the Spirit of Enterprise Award for championing business growth and jobs policies during the 113th Congress.
This is the 26th year the Chamber formally recognized a select group of lawmakers. Ross, the Lakeland Republican representing Florida’s 15th Congressional District, serves as senior deputy majority whip.
“The Federal Government does not create jobs, small businesses in our local communities do,” Ross said. “I am honored to receive the Spirit of Enterprise Award, and proud to support pro-growth policies that strengthen our economy and create jobs across Central Florida and the Tampa Bay region.”
Ross received the award on Wednesday, during a reception in the Chamber’s Capitol Hill offices in Washington, D.C.
Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donohue thanked Ross in a statement:
“For 50 years, through our How They Voted scorecard, the U.S. Chamber has been recognizing legislators from both sides of the aisle who have worked to pass legislation and enact policies that bolster our country’s economy, create jobs and keep our nation’s spirit of enterprise alive.
“The Spirit of Enterprise Award honors those Members of Congress like Congressman Dennis Ross, who has recognized the need and shown a commitment to pro-growth policies in the second session of the 113th Congress.”
The Spirit of Enterprise award recognizes members of Congress based on rankings on critical business votes and listed in its yearly periodical. The Chamber determines scores by how lawmakers vote on trade, transportation, legal reform and the budget.
