Authorities say a woman was killed at Florida Hospital in Tampa before the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an apparent murder-suicide.
According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Donna Lusczynski, the 41-year-old woman was shot in a third-floor hospital room and was immediately taken to the emergency room, where she later died.
The woman was identified in a news release as Alonna Tedesco. Officials said that she was visiting someone at the hospital when she was shot and that the man who shot her then shot himself.
The sheriff’s department says the hospital is not on lockdown.
No further details were immediately available.
