For the past few weeks, there have been various preseason polls and rankings about what to expect, and most of the polls expect that FSU will win the ACC and that Florida will be just another team in the SEC. ESPN is even more harsh on the state’s prospects.
It has FSU and coach Jimbo Fisher ranked third in the ACC behind Clemson and Georgia Tech.
The University of Miami it has ranked eighth.
In the SEC, it has Florida – in its first year under Jim McElwain – ranked No. 12 in the SEC, ahead of only Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
For Florida and FSU, there are similar problems. Both teams are looking for a new quarterback, with the Seminoles seeing a fight between Sean McGuire and Everett Golson and the Gators with youngsters Will Grier and Treon Harris.
