Exclusive: Crime dominates voter concerns, according to SP voter survey

The Times isn’t the only source with for exclusive polling information. I’ve obtained a copy of a comprehensive voter survey of 400 registered St. Petersburg voters in Districts 2,4,5,6 and 8. I’ll be sharing the results of this survey throughout the week.

Despite all of the media attention given to the Tampa Bay Rays and the effort to build a new stadium for the team, the issue most on St. Petersburg voters’ minds is crime. More than a third of city voters listed crime as “most important issue facing St. Petersburg.

A cursory read of the open-ended section of this question indicates that voter concern about crime is as strong as it is widespread. The word “crime” came up in over half of the answers offered by respondents.
