The Buzz is reporting that:
Underdog U.S. Senate candidate Maurice Ferre is calling on Democrat Kendrick Meek to return the $5,000 his campaign received from Charles Rangel and $1,500 from accused financial scammer Alan Stanford:
“Meek and the political establishment, both Republican and Democratic, have responded to an outraged electorate by scurrying to raise more money from any source possible, regardless of character,” said Ferre. “They are seriously out of touch with America’s anger at politics as usual….Kendrick Meek must respond to his constituents’ outrage and return the obviously tainted money,” said Ferre.
It’s nice to see Ferre giving Meek a run for his money, but I can’t say I approve of Ferre using the word “lash” in the headline of his media release:
Words like “lash” or “hang” or “lynch” or any other language that invoke images of slavery should just be avoided when a candidate criticizes an African American candidate, right? Or am I just being too politically correct. I am sure my friend Maurice Ferre doesn’t mean anything by his poor choice of words, but still, it’s a poor choice of words.
