News of the entrance of Senate Democratic Leader Nan Rich into the 2014 race for governor was met with a bit of a shrug by Republicans on Wednesday. They’re not even really focused on the governor’s race at the moment, a spokeswoman said. “Right now the Republican Party of Florida is focused on delivering Florida for Mitt Romney and Republicans this November,” said Republican Party of Florida Press Secretary Kristen McDonald. “Looking beyond November, we are certain Gov. Scott’s policies to balance budgets, provide educational opportunities for Florida’s kids and create economic growth and jobs will win no matter who the Democrats put on the ballot.” Rich said Wednesday she’s running, the first Democrat to announce a challenge to Scott.
