Football flashback: FSU still remembers comeback versus Louisville

Back in the day, Louisville jumped all over FSU.

Back in the day, FSU managed to come back.

Back in the day, FSU retained its national rankings.

If it doesn’t seem long ago to you … well, it wasn’t. This week’s Football Flashback happened just two years ago, on the day of the comeback. As victories go, it was one of the Seminoles’ most memorable.

It was Oct. 30, 2014, and FSU was 7-0 and ranked second in the country (this year, they’re 2-0 and ranked second). Still, FSU didn’t seem quite ready for a Louisville team that dominated the early-going.

Louisville jumped to a 21-0 lead and seemed poised to win a huge upset. However, Jameis Winston shook off three early interceptions and threw for three touchdowns and 401 yards to lead the FSU comeback. Dalvin Cook rushed for 110 yards and Travis Rudolph caught a 68-yard touchdown pass. Cook and Rudolph are seniors on this year’s team.

FSU ended up outscoring Louisville 42-10 after the early deficit for it’s 24th straight win.

“That was some fun,” said FSU coach Jimbo Fisher.

This year, Louisville is even better than that team with quarterback Willie Jackson. FSU is trying to match that team, as quarterback Deondre Francois makes his third start.
