Former Hernando commissioner Diane Rowden to seek Florida House seat

Former Hernando County Commissioner Diane Rowden has called a press conference for noon Wednesday on the steps of the Hernando County courthouse to announce her candidacy for the District 44 state House seat. A Democrat, Rowden served two terms on the County Commission and nearly four years on the Hernando County School Board. This is her first run for state office. The seat is now held by Republican Robert Schenck, who is in his second term and who has pre-filed paperwork seeking reelection.
