Former University of South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has suffered a “severe” injury to a hand in a fireworks accident, it has been reported.
Pierre-Paul, who received a $14.8 million franchise tag from the New York Giants, suffered burns that are not thought to be career threatening. Reports say that the skin of his palm and fingerprints was burned away, but the fingers themselves are intact.
Several people on Twitter shared photos of a U-Haul truck filled with fireworks that supposedly belonged to Pierre-Paul.
Pierre-Paul was seeking a long-term deal with the Giants, and had not signed his $14.8 offer. Pierrre-Paul had 12.t sacks for the Giants last season. The New York Post, in its story on the incident, had the headline “Add Jason Pierre-Paul to the Idiots Hall of Shame.
