The Republican Party of Florida today released two web videos highlighting what they consider Gov. Rick Scott’s victory in the education realm: teacher pay raises and a rebuffing of false Democratic attacks on his education record.
The first video spans Scott at teacher pay raise pep rallies across the state last week, gearing up on his legislative win to provide $480 million in pay raises within a $1.2 billion increased education budget. This represents record state-based contribution to education funding — all without raising taxes.
“We have great teachers in our state and we should be very thankful,” said Scott.
Throughout the video, watchers are reminded … #ItsWorking.
The second video targets accusations levied by the Florida Democratic Party which were deemed untrue by PolitiFact.
FDP Chair Allison Tant wrote: “Gov. Rick Scott allowed Republican legislators to cut his teacher pay raise proposal by 60 percent.” This claim was rated unequivocally false by PolitiFact, which found that Scott got what he was looking for from the Legislature.
The FDP response when asked to clarify by PolitiFact: “Oops, we got that wrong.”
