Congressional candidate Gwen Graham made it official today by filing the final paperwork required to qualify for the 2014 race in Florida’s 2nd Congressional District.
The Tallahassee Democrat, daughter of former governor and Sen. Bob Graham, faces Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland for the area covering Tallahassee through Panama City and the eastern part of the Florida Panhandle.
Graham officially qualified by petition last month, with valid signatures from at least one percent of the total registration numbers (453,392); she submitted 4,534. That meant Graham did not have to pay the $10,440 fee to be included on the ballot.
“We’ve been working hard for the last year to give middle class families in North Florida an independent voice that will stand up for their values. Today makes everything official,” said Graham. “For too long, partisan interests have played games with the lives of the people in this district. It’s time to change that.”
