Gwen Graham wants to hit the ground running when she arrives in Washington, D.C. in January. The newly-elected Congresswoman from Florida’s 2nd Congressional District will launch a four-county job tour Monday.
Graham’s staff is working with local chambers of commerce in sitting up the discussions.
“It’s an opportunity for business leaders to get together with Gwen, sit down and share their concerns so she can bring their concerns to Washington when she’s sworn in,” said a Graham spokesperson.
The jobs tour will begin Monday in Tallahassee and then on to Jackson County. Tuesday Graham will meet with small business owners in Bay and Gadsden counties.
Graham’s victory was the lone highlight for Democrats in last month’s election. She edged out incumbent Congressman Steve Southerland by taking 50.4 percent of the vote with Southerland receiving 49.5 percent.
Speaking to reporters after her victory she said, “You’re going to be seeing me in the District a lot.”
Graham will take the oath of office for Congress Jan. 6, 2015.
More details on the job tour will be forthcoming.
