Happy birthday to my good, good friend Alan Suskey

As fanciful maybe-one-day-we’ll-get-married talk gets bantered about the Winter White Fortress of Solitude, one of the best daydreams is picking out who will be Best Man, who will be the Maid of Honor and who will make up the rest of bridal party.

This had me thinking: do you ever notice in a bridal party there’s always that one friend who isn’t a relative or a lifelongacquaintance, rather they are a newer friend; someone who has made a tremendous impact in a short amount of time. Someone you can already trust because you feel like you’ve known that person your entire life.

Well, for me, that person is my good, good friend Alan Suskey.

Sure, sure, you all know him as a political up-and-comer (that’s actually no longer accurate because he’s pretty much established as one of the leading politicos in Tampa Bay), but I know Alan as the great friend whom I’ve had to schlep to Tallahassee this past year, as my drinkin’ buddy in parts far and near, as a confidante, as an ally, as someone almost as good at making fun of me as I am of him. All of this and more.

So Happy Birthday on Wednesday to my friend Alan Suskey. I trust you’ll look good in a tux.

PS Join us for a cocktail at Cassis at 4:30.
