Haridopolos: Budget should wait until tax numbers are better known

Senate President Mike Haridopolos said Wednesday that he is giving “great consideration” to delaying passage of the budget until lawmakers have a better idea of the tax collection picture. Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, said he doesn’t have great confidence in forecasts of what tax collections will be like next summer, considering the unpredictability of the national recovery and past experience. “You know the revenue estimating conference is not exactly spot-on,” he said about state predictions for how much money lawmakers will have to spend. “I’m a person who likes to have all the information in.” House Speaker Dean Cannon last month told reporters he didn’t necessarily see any need for that
