House District 68 Republican hopeful Bill Young II added another $8,451 in fundraising for May, putting him at nearly $70,000 in his effort to unseat incumbent Rep. Dwight Dudley.
Young, son of the late U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, is running for the seat covering much of eastern Pinellas County and parts of Pinellas Park and St. Petersburg. He raised $69,551 in total last month, spending $27,800 to date, and is left with $41,750 cash-on-hand.
Although Dudley fell behind Bill Young last month in his re-election bid, only raising $5,260, the St. Petersburg Democrat still leads in campaign cash with $109,445.
Dudley spent $336 in May — for total expenditures of $13,984 — giving him a war chest of $95,461 as he faces Republicans Young and Joshua Black.
Black raised only $230 last month, bringing the total to $4,526; he also gave his campaign a $691 loan. With expenditures, he has $247 cash-on-hand.
