Conservative provocateur James O’Keefe is skipping the Republican National Convention, where he was scheduled to speak at a luncheon hosted by the James Madison Institute.

O’Keefe “will not be able to personally attend,” because “the federal government has revoked permission for him to travel to Tampa,” according to an update on JMI’s website.

“Despite the government’s restrictions, not all is lost for this citizen journalist in the age of new media,” reads the update which promises O’Keefe will be communicating with luncheon guests via Skype.

The luncheon will now also include opening remarks by John Fund, senior editor of The American Spectator.
