The Office of Personnel Management has announced that all non-essential federal offices are closed Monday due to the Category 1 Hurricane Sandy currently battering the east coast.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports that all US stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, will be closed Monday. This is a reversal from earlier, when the NYSE had planned to close physical trading, but keep electronic trading open.
“Customers had complained to the exchanges and to the Securities and Exchange Commission that partial closures of the market would be too complicated, according to people with knowledge of the matter.”
