Ladies and gentlemen, we have the first casualty of Qualifying Week.

Ian Whitney, a Democrat running for House District 120 in Key West, failed to qualify for the ballot by petition by just six signatures.

Six signatures!

Check it out here: Whitney need 518 verified signatures to qualify for the ballot; he ended up with just 512. The deadline to turn in signed petitions for verification was May 7.

Of course, Whitney can still qualify for the ballot. He’ll just need to write a check for $1,781.82 or $296 for the six signatures Whitney fell short.
