Just noticed this rather strongly worded op-ed from State Senator Mike Bennett in which, among other things, he calls for halt to the high-speed-rail initiative. An excerpt:
Aggressive reform should start with an immediate halt to funding any programs that have not yet begun. In Florida, for example, the high-speed-rail initiative should be put on hold in the interest of funding more critical programs. Personally close to home, funding for the dredging of Wares Creek in Bradenton should be suspended. These are the types of short-term decisions that have to be made, so we can continue to make improvements.
