Is Indy’s Andrew Luck healthy enough to give Carolina its first loss?

in Sports by

The pressure is mounting on the head coach. People are speculating as to how badly the quarterback is hurt. There is no running game. And the Indianapolis Colts are one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL.

Also, they’re in first place.

How does this happen? The Colts, as mediocre as they have been in the NFL’s first half of the season, lead the weak AFC South despite their 3-4 record. That’s what happens when a team has to compete with Houston, Jacksonville and Tennessee.

Of course, those standings will be tested mightily when the Colts play against Carolina on Monday night football tonight.

The Panthers are undefeated on the season behind Cam Newton and a defense that has given up the fewest points in the NFL. The Panthers also lead the league in rushing. That combination, strong running and strong defense, have the Panthers as a runway leader in the NFC South.

Coming into the season, the Colts would have been favored in this game, but Andrew Luck has not been as good as normal. A report Sunday said that not only is his shoulder injured, he’s had fractured ribs.

The Colts’ defense is only 23rd in the league, which means the team has to find a way to stop Jonathan Stewart of Carolina.
