Jackson Memorial health care workers rally for federal healthcare dollars

Health care workers from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami rallied at the Capitol, encouraging lawmakers to accept federal money for expanded health care coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The Senate has a plan that would likely qualify for funding under ACA and would make more than 1 million people eligible for expanded health care coverage; however, the House plan would not accept federal dollars.

The Jackson group delivered letters to Speaker Will Weatherford imploring lawmakers to accept federal dollars, and suggesting that greater health care coverage will save money through better access to preventive services.
