Janet Clark announces her candidacy for a third term on the Pinellas County School Board. This election is not going unchallenged with Jim Jackson and Elliot Stern also filing to run for the District 1 at-large seat on the board.
Clark, who left her teaching position to join the Pinellas County School Board in 2004, feels strongly that she would prefer to stay on with another superintendent search less than a year away to replace acting Superintendent John Stewart.
In addition to the upcoming superintendent election, Clark said that among the many important issues facing the school board she would like to see come to completion includes a middle school reform initiative.
As reported by the Tampa Bay Times: “Clark’s opponents to this board seat include Jim Jackson, a former Miami-Dade College faculty member and St. Petersburg College adjunct instructor who ran unsuccessfully for the board two years ago, and Elliott Stern, a retired Raymond James executive who has served on the Pinellas Education Foundation board.”
