Janet Cruz cruises in H-58

Democrat Janet Cruz won an easy victory in a special election for the District 58 state House seat today. Cruz replaces Michael Scionti, who resigned from his post in December to take a job with the U.S. Department of Defense. Among those at Cruz’s victory party: State Rep. Ron Saunders from Key West, the incoming House minority leader. Saunders said the party has high hopes for flipping some Hillsborough House seats to Democrats in the November elections. One of the most promising races, he said, is in District 57, where Stacy Frank, the daughter of Hillsborough Clerk of Circuit Court Pat Frank. For the rest of this story, please click here.
